IMG_3204 IMG_8506Chelsea Peco Johnson is a very energized 7th grade student. If Chelsea could have anything in the world she would wish for money so that she could buy anything whenever she wants to. Her favorite sport to play is volleyball because she thinks it is fun. Since Chelsea loves sports; in her free time she enjoys playing basketball outside with her siblings. In facto her favorite sibling is Dakota because he doesn’t bother her as much. Chelsea also enjoys reading class at Mormon Trail and getting to be in Mrs. Porterfield’s class. Her favorite food is pizza. It’s Chelsea’s first year at the High School building and we are excited to welcome her here and see what the future has in store for her.

Featured Teacher

Ms. WrightIMG_1340Jennifer Wright (Ms. Wright) is the Junior high math and science teacher. She became a teacher because she wanted to inspire young lives and she likes being around kids. She also wants to help young people understand math. Ms.Wright is from Osceola, but she did attend Mormon Trail when she was in third grade up until 9th grade. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is getting to be around the students and always having something to laugh or smile about. Ms. Wright also enjoys Mexican food. In Ms. Wright’s free time she likes to bicycle, walk, fish, golf, kayak, canoe, or do anything outside. We are excited to welcome yet another new teacher here, and are looking forward to spending time and learning more things about her this year.

Travis Pollock is a sophomore at Mormon Trail. Travis is involved in many things such as football, baseball, basketball, golf, and FCCLA. When asked what his favorite sport was he replied with football because he has a passion for it and loves being part of the team. In fact, his favorite high school memory was being a member of the first football team to go to the playoffs. Travis said his favorite part of school is lunch time. His favorite food is steak or Heather Hitt’s chicken enchiladas. In his free time he enjoys playing sports and hanging out with his friends. Travis hopes to have a good season in basketball this year and can’t wait to see what’s in store forMormon Trail_0042 IMG_7558 him and the rest of the guys.

Featured Teacher

Dylan Charles Jones (Mr. Jones) is the new English teacher this year and loves everything about the English language, reading, writing and speaking. When asked why he became a teacher he replied with “I became a teacher because I wanted to ensure that future generations are able to find the same appreciation that I have for reading a good book now and then.” Mr. Jones was born in Dekalb, Illinois and grew up there. He attended college at the University of Iowa. Go Hawks! In his free time he enjoys reading books that he claims are way too long. A fun fact about Mr. Jones is that his favorite food is Cajun Tortellini. We are excited to welcome this new Mormon Trail staff memberIMG_3668 IMG_3957 IMG_8297 and hope to share more years with him here.

IMG_7310Payton Gwinn is a sophomore here at Mormon Trail and is described by one of her friends as hyper/energetic. Payton loves watching movies, hanging out with her friends, and eating. Her favorite food is tacos. If she could be anything in the world she would choose to be a celebrity, because they get paid a lot of money. Payton’s favorite sport is track because she loves running. Her goals for the year are to go to state for the 100 and 400 meter dash. When she gets older she plans to attend Iowa Central or Iowa State and become a teacher or a closed captionist. Payton’s favorite memory from high school was going TPing with Gracie and Angela in 7th grade and she tried to climb in the tree. She got stuck and the peed her pants. Payton is excited for the years to come and hopes to make more memories with her friends as she goes along.

Baylee Ann Head is a Junior here at Mormon Trail. Baylee is involved in FFA, 4H, Youth Council, Silver Cord, Basketball, Track, Volleyball and Cross Country. Baylee’s favorite sport is basketball because she loves getting to be aggressive. She participated in Cross country alone this year. She says it wasn’t that great because she went unnoticed at a lot of the meets. In her free time she works on the farm. Baylee enjoys showing livestock at fairs and open shows. Her favorite thing to show is cattle because they are easier to handle. Baylee plans to attend college to become either a nurse or a vet.
