Special Meeting

December 14, 2016

The Mormon Trail School Board met in special session December 14, 2016 in the office of the District’s Board Secretary.  Two items were on the agenda, Athletic Field Lighting and the State Fire Marshall’s report concerning violations at the Garden Grove building during construction of the CTE addition.

President Smiarowski called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.  Evans, Peasley, Funk  and Smiarowski were present in person and Lundahl answered roll call by phone. Superintendent Paxson was also present via phone. Secretary Rash and Linda Horton were also in attendance.

Funk made a motion to approve the agenda with Peasley seconding. All voted aye.

Lundahl motioned to approve the letting of bids for replacing the sports field lighting at the Humeston softball/baseball and football fields. Funk seconded. All voted aye.  The Board wishes to proceed with bidding to see what the numbers are going to look like for the various components of the lighting project.   

Evans made a motion to have an architect proceed with allowable options and to see if bidding can move forward on bringing the construction project of the CTE addition up to code for the projected cost of $25,000-$35,000. Peasley seconded with all voting aye. There are both ADA and Fire Code violations that need to be fixed immediately at an estimated cost of $25,000-$35,000. The District will ask for an extension beyond the original 90 days given to complete the project. 

Funk made a motion to adjourn with Evans seconding. All voted aye. Smiarowski closed the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
